When you order, Sherpa's call center inputs your order in to the Sherpa database, and then faxes two copies of your order to the restaurant- one for their records, and one to give to our courier.
Then, we SMS the Sherpa courier the details of the order and instruct him to go to the restaurant, and he replies with his estimated arrival time to the restaurant. When the courier arrives, he checks his copy of the order, and then picks up the food and delivers it to you – it is that simple!
Some of the finer details:
Sherpa's does not take credit cards. We used to, but the portable machines are too expensive and we need nearly 100 of them.
Sundays, bad weather, and holidays mean increased business for Sherpa's, and thus often results in slower orders. We apologise for this.
Tips are not expected, but are appreciated. If you are pushed for a tip, please report it directly to mark@sherpa.com.cn
Please allow our courier time to inspect your money when you pay him, as there are many very realistic fake rmb notes in circulation. If a courier returns to your house after he leaves to tell you that you gave him fake money, report this to mark@sherpa.com.cn
Please be patient with the Sherpa phone operators, oftentimes they are processing orders in German, Italian, or Spanish and they may need to learn how to say as many as 4,000 food items from over 20 countries.
It is best for everyone if you order from restaurants with as low a delivery fee as possible – as it will mean your order is quicker, hotter, and less shaken up. |
